Well the first six months of 2023 have certainly flown by. Here at Retro Engineering we have had some changes and are looking forward to the rest of the race season.
Just before Christmas, Zack left us to pursue another career. He started with us in 2017 and was very much part of the team, however we wish him well in his new pursuits.
In February Neil Lampard joined us, he is an accomplished performance transmission specialist and an ex Prodrive motorsport technician. Neil has slotted well into the team and has accompanied us to most of the races so far this year.
Early February we collected the shell of the new build BMW 2002, from North East Autobody. A big shout out to Warren Dunbar and his team for another amazing paint job.
Over the winter the TVR underwent a major refresh and had a new engine installed before testing at Goodwood on the 1st of March 2023 alongside the BMW 1800.

June 2023 – Zandvoort
16th 18th June Zandvoort – Holland, saw the first outing of the newly built BMW 2002, the weather was hot and the grids packed. We were told before qualifying that out of an initial grid of 55, the last ten would be dropped. Harry qualified in a very respectful 33rd. It was the first time he had driven the car and this was his first time racing at Zandvoort. Race one he finished 23rd overall and 4th in class and Race 2 came 13th overall and 1st in Class, an excellent result and fantastic end to the weekend.
Before and after, the newly completed BMW 2002
We are very proud of this car, every person at Retro Engineering has had an input into this build, John Powell with his excellent fabrication work and machining. Nigel Bridger for the engine build, assisted by Finley Clark, Tom Bridger for the wiring and electricals and Neil Lampard for his attention to detail car building, finally Alison Bridger for keeping parts flowing and helping with trim work.
